Farchant is an idyllic village in the heart of the Upper Bavarian Zugspitzland, surrounded by magnificent mountains, flower meadows and mountain lakes at the foot of Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze.

As the phrase goes “a person who loves has a lot to give” – we are glad to let you become a part of our beloved village life.

Life here is a little more unhurried than elsewhere - but traditions are more vivid.

Farchant lies about 700 meters ASL. It is surrounded by the imposing summits of the Wetterstein/ Ester and Ammer Mountains which provide a stunning panorama and nonetheless give you enough space to breathe to feel the vastness of valley.

A huge variety of activities awaits you at any time of the year: during the summer you can choose between hiking and bike tours for all fitness levels or go for a swim in one of the numerous lakes or in our great open air bath and enjoy the fantastic panorama.

Do you know the “junior adventure trail”? There are 18 stations that take you on a journey to the secrets of nature.

With the ZugspitzCard und the ZugspitzCardGold you can enjoy your leisure time with a huge variety of possibilities.

During winter season you can also choose from a huge variety of hiking opportunities. Or would you like to go skiing? There is a drag lift for children and beginners. For cross-country skiers Farchant offers a large number of trails.

Or do you prefer to luge, a sleigh ride, curling or ice-scating… It will never get boring in Farchant!
